We did an 8.2 mile round trip with Mrs. IM to Whiskey Falls near North Fork, CA. The area is big among OHV enthusiasts, but very few hikers. They are pretty careful and friendly on the roads when you see them. You have seen me post about North Fork, as I often go for rides on my bike in the area. The hike had a pretty minor change in altitude, between 5500 and 5900 feet above sea level in the Sierra foothills. High enough to be cool this time of year, and even saw a little snow still on the ground. Temps are in the upper 70s on the valley floor today, which is nice for this time of year. We will be in the 90s this week. We leave Saturday for our trip to O regon (Mrs. IM, Toby, our two sons, my older son’s gf, and me). I am looking forward to it, and am trying to plan a stop in Ferndale, CA for an organic dairy tour. All the years I have been working with dairies, and my family has never seen one. Ferndale is about the nicest place you could go to visit a dairy farm, and the farmer who invited us is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. He is fond of me at the moment because we locked in a heifer sale deal for him (we did the contract) just before COVID-19 hit and heifer prices went into negative numbers. Last time I was in Ferndale, I toured a dairy operated by a gay married couple who were excited to have just welcomed their first child, by adoption. Kind of bucks the whole stere otype of dairy farmers, which is nice. They let Toby drink from the raw milk bucket after they were done feeding the calves. I bet he wants to do that again .

I am planning on taking the Ducati to Oregon. The shift lever is supposed to arrive early this week, so that will be fixed, and I ordered a slick Kendon trailer to hook up the GTI that should get here this week as well. It will look like this, but with a different Ducati on it :

That sounds and looks like a fun hike! What are you doing in Oregon?
